The Crown’s Game was one of my favourite reads last year, with its vivid descriptions and intriguing characters. The highly-anticipated sequel, The Crown’s Fate, is set to release in just a few months from now. So, without further ado, here is my stop for The Tsar’s Guard Spotlight!

The gorgeous and darkly compelling sequel to The Crown’s Game—perfect for fans of Red Queen and Shadow and Bone.

Magic is growing, shadows are rising, and the throne is at stake…

Russia is on the brink of great change. Pasha’s coronation approaches, and Vika is now the Imperial Enchanter, but the role she once coveted may be more difficult—and dangerous—than she ever expected.

Pasha is grappling with his own problems—his legitimacy is in doubt, the girl he loves loathes him, and he believes his best friend is dead. When a challenger to the throne emerges—and with the magic in Russia growing rapidly—Pasha must do whatever it takes to keep his position and protect his kingdom.

For Nikolai, the ending of the Crown’s Game stung deeply. Although he just managed to escape death, Nikolai remains alone, a shadow hidden in a not-quite-real world of his own creation. But when he’s given a second chance at life—tied to a dark price—Nikolai must decide just how far he’s willing to go to return to the world.

With revolution on the rise, dangerous new magic rearing up, and a tsardom up for the taking, Vika, Nikolai, and Pasha must fight—or face the destruction of not only their world but also themselves.

Now, what if all the characters from The Crown’s Game were sorted into Hogwarts houses, Percy Jackson cabins, Grisha types, and A Court of Thorns and Roses courts? Here, I’ve included several of the main characters: Vika, Nikolai, Yuliana, Sergei, and Galina.

Vika Andreyeva:
Independent, strong, clever, unpredictable, loyal to a fault.

Hogwarts house:
Gryffindor, though I find her to have traits of all the houses.
Percy Jackson cabin:
Zeus or Poseidon for manipulating lightning, fire, etc.
Grisha type:
Etherealki

Nikolai Karimov:
Elegant, talented, impeccable, kind, lonely.

Hogwarts house:
Slytherin, but not the typical Draco Malfoy-esque Slytherin. I’m talking about an elegant, suave, lonely kind of Slytherin.
Percy Jackson cabin:
Hermes—I wasn’t really sure where to put him, but Riordan describes Hermes as a jack-of-all-trades, so I guess Nikolai would fit there.
Grisha type:
Materealki. Etherealki could work as well, but when Nikolai changed the buildings for his first move, he manipulated the materials.

Yuliana Romanov:
Serious, underestimated, ruthless, and intelligent.

Hogwarts house:
Ravenclaw
Percy Jackson cabin:
Athena (not sure what else you were expecting after Ravenclaw, haha)
Grisha type:
No ability

Sergei Andreyev:
Simple, kindhearted, gifted.

Hogwarts house:
Hufflepuff, because Sergei seems like such a loyal, fatherly figure
Percy Jackson cabin:
Demeter (‘nature is its own form of magic’)
Grisha type:
Corporalki. It’s mentioned that Sergei is well-acquainted with medicinal herbs, so it only makes sense that he would be a Corporalki healer.

Galina Zakrevskaya:
Vain, ruthless, crafty.

Hogwarts house:
Slytherin. This time, I’m talking about the cunning, ambitious type of Slytherin who’ll do anything to achieve their goals.
Percy Jackson cabin:
Hera. Regal, formidable, and demanding.
Grisha type:
Corporalki? Ever since she pulled the end trick, I can’t stop thinking of her as a Heartrender because of the fear and easy murder.

Yes, I know I skipped Pasha, but I simply didn’t know where to put him. If you have any ideas, leave it in the comments below!

She was once offered a job by the C.I.A., she not-so-secretly wishes she was on “So You Think You Can Dance,” and if you challenge her to a pizza-eating contest, she guarantees she will win. When Evelyn isn’t writing, she can be found chasing her daughter on the playground or sitting on the couch, immersed in a good book and eating way too many cookies.

  1. Cool post! It’s nice to see one after a while…
The Crown’s Fate is one of the books I’m super excited to read! I really like your idea of sorting characters into Hogwarts houses, and I bet it must’ve been hard to place some of them- frankly, I can’t see Nikolai in any house, but Slytherin is probably the best one for him. And for Pasha, he seems like a Hufflepuff because he doesn’t really have any huge standout qualities. He seems like a good friend, though. Can’t wait for your next tour/review!

    • Haha yeah, I haven’t posted in a few months (first year of high school!) And I completely agree with your sorting for Pasha… not to say that he’s not special or talented (just look at Tonks!) but I really can’t see him anywhere else. Glad you liked the post!

  2. That was a great post! I loved it! I can’t wait for The CROWN’S FATE! Pasha would probably be a Hufflepuff since he is pretty peaceful and calm and down-to-earth. As for Percy Jackson Cabin, I would put him in the Apollo Cabin because he is both talented and charming!!!
